The global financial crisis has moved economic indicators into the red, but it has also turned many American thumbs green. Tough times have led many to get their hands dirty in a resurgence of home gardening. First Lady Michelle Obama embraced the trend when she invited students from Washington’s Bancroft Elementary School to help plant a White House kitchen garden.
