Photo: Aerial view of tornado destruction
An aerial view of Greensburg, Kansas, shows the widespread devastation caused by an F5 tornado. The twister tore a path 1.7 miles (2.7 kilometers) wide and 22 miles (35 kilometers) long and moved at an average speed of 20 miles an hour (32 kilometers an hour). It took less than 20 minutes to level Greensburg, the National Weather Service said.
